"Ding Dong the bells are gonna chime...

..pull out the stopper lets have a whopper but get me to the church on time!" Sorry I couldn't resist a bit of a sing song there! Amidst all of the crafty adventures that the Mafia have been trying to undertake this year, the summer of 2011 holds some VERY exciting dates for two of our Dons here in Nottingham!

Our very own Don Liam is to wed the lovely Lynne next week and our lovely crochet queen Don April is to marry her beau Sean in less than 4 weeks time! That's right people! Two Don weddings in less than two months! EXCITING stuff huh?

With this in mind we'd just like to Thank you all for your continued support and interest this year so far with the Nottingham Craft Mafia. We have so many big plans and exciting cards on the table regarding the Mafia and we're so happy to have you all on board with us. These next couple of months are going to be very much a whirlwind of excitment for the newly weds so please bare with us in terms of the next couple of socials and any further progression with the Mafia.

While the other two Dons are mad busy planning and prepping for their big day I intend to beaver away at the blog, facebook and hopefully bring you a shiny new website over the summer time! So please keep watching this space and dropping by the facebook page to show your love and share your creative adventures! We love it and can't do any of this without you!

So waffling aside... I hope you'll all join me in wishing April & Sean and Liam & Lynne all the bestest in their bright new futures together! Here's to Summer 2011 and lots of exciting fun times all round! HUZZAH!

Here's to the happy couples!
Lots of Love
Jo

Craft and Design Month

"What is Craft and Design Month?

Hundreds of craft events already take place successfully every year during the month of May; now Craft and Design Month can bring them all together under one banner to collectively target national and regional media. There are also lots of opportunities for people to organise something especially for Craft and Design Month.
The overall aim is to achieve wider publicity and public awareness of the fine craft and design that exists in the UK today.
This project receives no funding or grant aid. It is entirely based on the simple concept of people working together for the benefit of the whole creative community and is sponsored by craft&design magazine, who have launched this unique opportunity to celebrate and promote crafts across the UK.
To find out more about the aims of Craft and Design Month, download our proposal 'An opportunity to help raise the profile of British Crafts'"

Love shoes?

Then head on over to The Hub in Sleaford to see the exhibition 'A Personal Collection of Vivienne Westwood Shoes'. Soooooo many weird, wonderful & wacky shoes in one place with some stunning fashion photography to boot! Get it... boot... shoes... ahem!

The Hub has several exhibitions on at the moment, all of which are worth a wonder round, not to mention their lovely Craft Shop & Tea Rooms too. Go on... take a venture and spy on some spectacular shoes!

"A Personal Collection of Vivienne Westwood Shoes opens at the National Centre for Craft and Design on 29th January 2011 (closing 2nd May 2011), featuring an opulent display of footwear by the doyenne of British fashion, Dame Vivienne Westwood. Westwood, best known for the creation of punk fashion with Malcolm McLaren in the 70’s, has a reputation for innovation in design, often using traditional styles and materials in surprising ways.

This exhibition is based around a collection of shoes amassed over the past 15 years by a private collector. It spans the entirety of the designer’s high fashion career, from the 70’s onwards, and showcases some of the most innovative and iconic examples of her work in shoe design."
